The Pet Chalet was established over 55 years ago and has been proudly owned and operated by the Lake Family since 1996. As a purely boarding facility, your pet's stay is our only focus — their health, happiness and wellbeing is always our number one priority.
We offer clean, safe, secure and comfortable facilities set amongst the stunning bush surrounds of Upper Brookfield. We strive to provide a peaceful environment for every guest, as we believe a calm atmosphere is essential to your pet's comfort and enjoyment.
We are proud members of the Pet Industry Association of Australia (PIAA) and the Association of Pet Boarding and Grooming (APBG).

Our History
From humble beginnings in 1969 to one of Brisbane's most trusted pet resorts — here's our story.
Harry & Kay Gill — The Beginning
The Pet Chalet boarded its first pets at Christmas 1969. Harry Gill spent most of the year building the residence and kennels — with no road, timber was pulled up the hill by horse and sled. Originally named Brookfield Kennels. Capacity: approx 40 dogs, 30 cats.
Allan & Anne Hodge
An air conditioned kennel block was built and the cattery was enclosed in brick. The dam was constructed for water supply. Allan and Anne renamed the facility to The Pet Chalet and did the hard work of building its reputation. Capacity: approx 60 dogs, 30 cats.
John & Jenny Rosenfeld
The second side of the cattery was constructed and the concrete access driveway from Carbine Road was built — a major undertaking. John and Jenny also created the current Pet Chalet logo. Capacity: approx 60 dogs, 60 cats.
John & Allison Forbes
Two large dog kennel blocks were built, vastly improving dog facilities. The back exercise yard was constructed and the first computer system and operating procedures were implemented — many of which are still in use today. Capacity: approx 80 dogs, 60 cats.
The Lake Family — Present Day
Major refurbishments transformed the facility. The original kennel block was replaced, the cattery doubled in size, and a new kitchen, office and reception building were built. The car park and driveway were bitumen sealed. Five Executive Suites were added in 2003, with six more in 2011. The state-of-the-art Enviro Building was completed in 2010, and our world class Deluxe Cattery was launched in 2014. Capacity: approx 100 dogs, 100 cats.
